The Foundation of AFWA is proud to announce the recipients of the 2015 Undergraduate and Masters Scholarships. This year The Foundation expanded its Scholarship Program to include applicants from outside immediate AFWA markets. As a result, a record 147 applications were received. The Foundation awarded 12 undergraduate and 3 masters scholarships. In addition, two AFWA members received Certification scholarships for their efforts to advance their professional credentials.  A total of $22,500 was awarded through the Spring 2015 scholarship program.

“Through The Foundation of AFWA’s scholarship program, I’m privileged to have a glimpse at the young talent entering the accounting and finance field. Based on this year’s extraordinary applicants, I’m excited for the future of this industry and the impact women will make in it,” said Pamela Wenner, Foundation Director and Chair of the Scholarship Committee.

Vivian Le
California State University Fullerton (Sponsored by AFWA Orange County)

Vivian is an immigrant from Vietnam and first generation college student within her family. Accounting was not her original education path but an inspirational professor and volunteer work through VITA and other organizations have proven to her she is moving the right direction. She is expected to graduate in December 2016 and plans to take the CPA and pursue a Masters in Tax.
